i love you but i don't trust you.

so i've been watching one tree hill. nathan says to haley in an episode of season 3: "i love you but i don't trust you". and i'm wondering, "how does that work?"

i want you to be independent but i want you to need me.

i'm happy for you but i wish it were me.

i don't like you but i want you to like me.

i don't care but it hurts.

i can forgive but i cannot forget.

i love you but i don't trust you.

does it work?
